The most convenient way to apply for new electrical service is to visit a customer service office. An application form can be mailed to you, and you can request service in writing or by fax. Enclose a copy of your personal identification—driver’s license and social security card—along with a check or money order for the security deposit.

New residential customers are required to provide a security deposit. Your deposit is credited to your account with interest after a 13-month history of on-time good payments, or applied to your final bill if the account is disconnected. A security deposit is not required if you have established a good payment history with Santee Cooper or another electrical utility. A customer who has paid on time for the past 12 months establishes a good payment history. If moving from another utility, request a letter of credit referencing the location where your new service is needed, and have it mailed or faxed to your local customer service office.

The signed authorization form, a security deposit and identification are required prior to having power connected.
